What is an article? Articles are generally 300 – 400 words long and cover a specific topic, usually one which is related to your business and on most occasions contains a keyword which you would like to rank for in the search results. Articles are uploaded to Ezines and online directories under a specific topic, with the link to your website.
How does it help? By having keyword rich, relevant content appearing on other websites – with a link to your site, there is more opportunity for the search engines (like Google) to find you. These links also increase the number of backlinks to your site, the number of which counts in your favour when Google is trying to decide which site is more relevant than another when someone is doing a search.

What do you need to do?
- You send us the topics or more importantly, the keywords you would like us to focus on. One per article is enough.
- Alfalfa then coordinates the writing of this search engine optimized (SEO) content with the relevant keyword appearing in the appropriate places in the text. It is important to note here that with article writing, focus is on writing something which is readable to humans and will add value or inform them on the topic covered. Writing purely for search engines is not recommended practice since the algorithms Google has running are starting to notice when copy is aimed at them as opposed to real people.
- The completed article is then edited and the final draft sent to you for approval. If you would like any changes to be made, you send it back with your recommendations.
- Once you have approved the article, you can either submit it to Ezines yourself or let Alfalfa manage these submissions for you.
This process of article writing and submission is extremely simple and the benefits to your website are enormous. Every website out there which wants to be found by Google and rank well needs to have a content strategy and articles should make up a part of that strategy.
